When I find an app I love I always grab the pro version or find other ways to support them. Here are some of the apps that I use consistently and (in a couple cases) passionately. > [!wip] Work in Progress > I'm still working on this list - check back soon for updates! ## [Obsidian](https://obsidian.md/) In 2022/2023, I discovered [Obsidian](https://obsidian.md/) while re-evaluating how I manage notes as a consultant. A post about it on *Daring Fireball* caught my eye, and I downloaded it to try it out. Obsidian impressed me right away—not only is it a powerful app, but its data is entirely portable because it works as a souped-up Markdown file editor. The standout feature is how easily you can link notes together. Typing `[[` lets you connect to an existing note or create a new one automatically. It’s intuitive and makes building a web of knowledge feel effortless. While work restrictions have now forced me to use OneNote on a locked-down laptop, I enthusiastically rely on Obsidian for personal knowledge management. I even use it to maintain *this website*, writing in Obsidian and publishing with **Obsidian Publish**. The app itself is free for personal use, but for just $10/month (plus $4/month for **Obsidian Sync**), I find it's well worth the financial support for the developer. Enter **Paprika**, a recipe management app I might have first heard about on *Daring Fireball*. What I love most is its seamless sync across devices—something I now look for in all my apps. But the real magic lies in how effortlessly it imports recipes from the web using its built-in browser or Safari share sheet. Paprika makes organizing recipes a breeze, though its grocery list feature can occasionally miss an ingredient. Double-checking your list helps avoid surprises at the store. Overall, it’s a fantastic tool for home cooking. Paprika is a one-time purchase: $4.99 for iOS, $4.99 for Android, $29.99 for macOS, and $29.99 for Windows. I use the iOS/iPadOS, and macOS versions.
