[[Galleries Index|← Back to Galleries]] --- ![[2026-02-NYC-001_web.jpeg]] When in New York, take the subway! 42nd Street station heading up to Central Park. ![[2026-02-NYC-002_web.jpeg]] New York had been pummeled with a winter storm the week prior, and snow was still quite prevalent around. ![[2026-02-NYC-003_web.jpeg]] ![[2026-02-NYC-004_web.jpeg]] It was a little cold for these California boys. ![[2026-02-NYC-005_web.jpeg]] Delacorte Theater — home of Shakespeare in the Park. ![[2026-02-NYC-006_web.jpeg]] ## A Quick Visit to The Metropolitan Museum of Art ![[2026-02-NYC-007_web.jpeg]] We didn't have much time before our matinee, so we only made a quick visit to The Metropolitan Museum of Art. We always "turn right" and see the Ancient Egypt exhibits first. ![[2026-02-NYC-008_web.jpeg]] The Temple of Dendur at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Around 23 BCE, *Roman* Emperor Augustus commissioned the temple dedicated to the Egyptian goddess Isis and deified brothers Pedesi and Pihor from Nubia. After being displaced by flooding from the Aswan dam, Egypt gave the temple to the Met. ![[2026-02-NYC-009_web.jpeg]] The Frank Lloyd Wright Room — a reconstructed Prairie-style living room at the Met. ![[2026-02-NYC-010_web.jpeg]] Even the light fixtures fit the vibe. ![[2026-02-NYC-011_web.jpeg]] The Charles Engelhard Court in the American Wing. ![[2026-02-NYC-012_web.jpeg]] The Greek and Roman galleries -- ice and snow still blanketing the skylights creating this wonderful diffused light throughout the gallery. ![[2026-02-NYC-013_web.jpeg]] We were troopers, walking all the way back to the theater district. Stopping for coffee once. ![[2026-02-NYC-014_web.jpeg]] *Oh, Mary!* starring my old pal Jinkx Monsoon at the Lyceum Theatre. ![[2026-02-NYC-015_web.jpeg]] Tony Award winner. 2025 Pulitzer Prize winner. No big deal. ![[2026-02-NYC-016_web.jpeg]] I met Jinkx back in Seattle where we both worked for Balagan Theatre, doing *Spring Awakening*. ![[2026-02-NYC-017_web.jpeg]] Gorgeous theater -- I think this is my first time in the Lyceum. ![[2026-02-NYC-018_web.jpeg]] Post-matinee, Pre-Upright Citizens Brigade ramen at Kyuramen. ![[2026-02-NYC-019_web.jpeg]] Beverages while we wait, but we didn't wait long. ![[2026-02-NYC-020_web.jpeg]] Tonkotsu ramen, katsu, and bao. ![[2026-02-NYC-021_web.jpeg]] Then we made our way to Upright Citizens Brigade for a double-header. First up, **Sketch Cage Match**! ![[2026-02-NYC-022_web.jpeg]] The second show was **Improv with My Friends from Work** — cast and writers from SNL. ![[2026-02-NYC-023_web.jpeg]] New York even has their own Pepsi -- fancy! ![[2026-02-NYC-024_web.jpeg]] The next day (after I had to work from the hotel) we stopped for a bite and a couple cocktails at The Dickens, featuring this wall of icons. ![[2026-02-NYC-025_web.jpeg]] My cocktail was delicious and came with a smoking cinnamon stick garnish. ![[2026-02-NYC-026_web.jpeg]] We still had a little time before the show, so we stopped in at **Don't Tell Mama's** and listened to the pianist for a bit. ![[2026-02-NYC-027_web.jpeg]] *All Out: Comedy About Ambition* at the Nederlander — with Sarah Silverman, Jason Mantzoukas, Craig Robinson, and Heidi Gardner.
