## Around the Ship ![[2026-02-SA-Food-001_web.jpeg]] A Havanette — Argentina's beloved chocolate-caramel cake, offered at our Buenos Aires hotel, Hotel Mio. ![[2026-02-SA-Food-002_web.jpeg]] The first proper toast of the trip. ## Mercado del Puerto, Montevideo Uruguay ![[2026-02-SA-Montevideo-033_web.jpeg]] Chimichurri, salsa criolla, and bread — the only acceptable way to start lunch. ![[2026-02-SA-Montevideo-036_web.jpeg]] ![[2026-02-SA-Montevideo-037_web.jpeg]] Uruguayan beef. Nothing else to say. ## Vagon Cafe, Ushuaia Uruguay ![[2026-02-SA-Ushuaia-001_web.jpeg]] Coffee at Vagon Cafe -- best coffee I've had since RealFine in Seattle. ![[2026-02-SA-Ushuaia-002_web.jpeg]] Quite the spread -- we also enjoyed a plate of empanadas. ## Main Dining Room ![[2026-02-SA-Food-003_web.jpeg]] "Steak, Dianne?" ![[2026-02-SA-Food-004_web.jpeg]] The Steak Dianne — sirloin in a creamy cognac mushroom sauce with green beans and hasselback potatoes. Our little table dolphin was hoping for french fries. ![[2026-02-SA-Food-005_web.jpeg]] The first round of our ship "bar crawl" — white wine, whiskey gingers, and a moscow mule to get the evening started. ## Murano ![[2026-02-SA-Food-006_web.jpeg]] For our second-to-last evening on the ship we dined at the **Murano** specialty restaurant. It included a dramatic tableside flambé. The theatrics were as good as the food. ![[2026-02-SA-Food-007_web.jpeg]] Dad ordered the tableside butter-poached lobster at Murano — beautifully plated and very delicious. ![[2026-02-SA-Food-008_web.jpeg]] I ordered a rack of lamb with pea purée and glazed carrots at Murano — probably the single best plate I had onboard the cruise. ![[2026-02-SA-Food-009_web.jpeg]] Tableside carved Chateaubriand for two at Murano — everyone enjoyed bites of Doug and Mom's entree. ## Don Julio Parrilla, Buenos Aires ![[2026-02-SA-BuenosAires-City-102_web.jpeg]] A fried empanada to start. ![[2026-02-SA-BuenosAires-City-104_web.jpeg]] Grilled mushrooms and fries. ![[2026-02-SA-BuenosAires-City-105_web.jpeg]] The meat arrives — two cuts presented tableside. ![[2026-02-SA-BuenosAires-City-108_web.jpeg]] Doug ordered chocolate drizzled vanilla ice cream for dessert. ![[2026-02-SA-BuenosAires-City-109_web.jpeg]] I ordered Dulce de leche ice cream... a great finish to the meal!
